Need to make a podcast? Create some music? Check out Soundtrap.

Soundtrap is an online audio editing tool. It allows you to make podcasts easily. It even creates a transcript for you!

It also functions nicely as a music creator. You can make music in a couple of different ways, or combine them all: Use their extensive library of loops, program in notes for your instrument(s), or import your own sound files.

There's also lots of great videos online. Check out the one below. That's a great starting point that covers all the basics. It's a pretty quick overview, but you can check out their playlists of more in-depth podcasting tutorials if you want.

Soundtrap has some key features you might want to pay attention to when making your podcast:

  • Tracks: Tracks are great because you can layer your sounds. Have a track for your voice, a track for sounds effects, and a track for music. You can also have a track for your voice as well as tracks for other people contributing to your podcast.

  • Collaboration: Invite guests to join you in your discussion. You can also have collaborators help you with the editing. Please note that you may not be able to watch changes made live, like you can with a Google Doc. But on person edits a little, then another person edits later. make sure you hit the Save button!

  • Adjust your volume easily with the "volume automation" option. It allows for excellent control of volume.

  • Built in sounds: including music and sound effects. but feel free to import other music and sounds too! If you need other music, the YouTube Audio Library has lots of great sounds and music; just check to see if you need to give attribution! You can get there by Googling YouTube Audio Library.
